"What She Knew" trilogy by K.R. Hughes and T.L. Burns

On this Wednesday I would like to Wow you with authors K.R. Hughes and T.L. Burns, "What She Knew" trilogy. These books will keep you on the edge of your seat. Fateful Night and Darkest Day are waiting to be accompanied by the third book is the series. In the meantime these two stories pack enough punch that they will leave you wanting more.

"What She Knew" is a fast paced story of intrigue and mystery involving America's favorite sex goddess, Marilyn Monroe. This book has all the elements of the next blockbuster hit. We weave a story of intrigue, mystery, and a touch of conspiracy. In this period piece; high profile, never forgotten, iconic, historical characters are resurrected and showcased in a new light; bringing humor, depth and warmth to an all-star cast.

The fascination with Marilyn Monroe hasn’t died nor have the questions surrounding her death been fully satisfied. This August marked the 50th anniversary of her death and she is hotter than ever. She has millions of fans worldwide; over three hundred thousand Facebook fans, and nearly one hundred thousand Twitter fans #most of which are under the age of 24#; which makes Marilyn more ‘alive’ today than she was in the early 1960’s.

Stars like Uma Thurman, who sang as ‘Marilyn’ during a guest appearance earlier this year on NBC’s "Smash". Scarlett Johanson perfected the ‘Marilyn’ pout for a Dolce & Gabbana spring makeup campaign in 2010. Michelle Williams earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her 2011 portrayal of Marilyn in "My Week with Marilyn". These are modern day glamour girls who ‘got the look’ of Marilyn Monroe and made a big splash with the public.

Given the popularity and our research on Marilyn Monroe; we’ve simply utilized the events leading up to her death and added our own take on what happened. Following the historical timeline closely as well as the world events of the day, we have created a compelling novel of what if Marilyn had lived and ‘what she knew’ was enough to save John F. Kennedy from assassination.

We have fans of all ages and backgrounds that ask us all the time where is Marilyn Monroe?

One of our reviewers had this to say, 'A book that makes you wonder..."Could it really be true?"' Our hope is that you, the reader, have a similar reaction and have a hard time putting the book down as other reviewers have shared.

New Release Alert! Joey Paul's Waiting On You!

Today I have the pleasure to share with you Joey Paul’s new release, Waiting On You. Her books are filled with heart. I describe them as a modern Harriet the Spy. There is no way not to be moved by these stories and this one is just as good as the others, if not better.

Description
Angelina and Zack couldn’t be anymore different; one lives in apparent riches and the other in poverty.

They meet online and a friendship blooms, but then things in Angelina’s life take a turn for the worst and she finds herself turning to the only person she thinks loves her – Zack.

With everything against them, can Zack and Angelina cross the distance to change her life before it's too late? Or will Zack have to watch from afar as Angelina continues to suffer?

My Review
Waiting On You by Joey Paul takes you right into the main characters life. Angelina (Ange is what her friends would call her if she had any) is a likable character that pulls on your heartstrings. Her emotions are life-like and it is impossible not to feel for her. She lives under difficult circumstances. Her family is abusive and she is endlessly bullied by her classmates. This book tackles several difficult subject and does so with grace.

Joey Paul manages to draw characters that you feel for. She has a way of making the reader care. That is a great gift. This story is adorable, touching and at times emotional. I enjoyed getting in the mind of the two main characters and I hope to be reunited with them both in another book. Wasn't quite ready to let go of Ange or Zach.

I like how the author writes like a person talks. There is something so relatable in her stories. It's real life with all the growing pains, insecurities, sufferings, and losses.

Waiting On You is an intriguing read that takes you into someone else's life. I was so compelled to find out more that I managed to read this book in one sitting. It was a powerful read that left me wanting more. To me, in some ways this is a quirky Romeo and Juliette story. Highly recommend.

Linda Hamonou has a new release, Harajuku Kiss!

I am delighted to have the talented Linda Hamonou on my blog today who is promoting  her new book, Harajuku Kiss

At times, life can be so depressing. She is walking her usual recovery tour in Harajuku, finishing with a crepe, trying to forget that her boyfriend dumped her once again for the week-end... When the unthinkable happens... A boy stops in front of her in the street and kisses her, in the middle of the street, before running away.
Trying to discover more about him, she is dragged into a dangerous game of mystery. A biologist has been murdered and a deadly virus is on the loose. First suspect: the mysterious Harajuku's stranger.

Excerpt

“Here we are,” he said, stopping in front of an Italian restaurant.
It was the most Italian looking restaurant I had seen in Tokyo so far. It was just like the ones in Roma, with the green, white, red, flag, with the table in the terrace and the little bread that you can’t help but start eating even before knowing that it’s the place you want to eat at.
“Why?” I asked.
He pushed me inside.
“I thought you said you wanted spaghetti,” he answered, looking at me as if it was obvious that we would end up here.
“Oh,” I said, feeling my eyes opening a bit wider. “Sure!”
This time my smile was probably going to stay on my face forever, I wondered if it was a date or something. This was the first time in a long time when I ended up in a restaurant where I actually wanted to eat. Whenever one of my ex-boyfriends asked me what I wanted to eat, either he was cooking or if we were going out, it was mostly to be polite. At least that’s what I suspected because we never ended up eating what I asked for. It was true that I asked for spaghetti often, but having what I wanted once in a while wouldn’t have killed me. I suddenly felt spoiled and grateful and shy.
“Why are you smiling like that?” he asked.
“I’m not sure,” I answered.

My Review
If anyone knows how to inspire, Jane does. She has a way of brighting my mood no matter how dark and frayed. She makes me want to do better and be better. This uplifting journal brings a smile to my face and a definite spring to my step. Jane Carroll and Bertha are liquid joy.

Describing joy brought a joyful feeling to my day. EVERYDAY. It reminded me to look at the bright side rather than going to the dark. This was a pick me up that I did with complete pleasure. The simplicity of it made it an easy task and once I got into it I felt myself relaxing.
There is something soothing about journaling and expressing the good that is just waiting to be discovered. I will continue with these exercises just like doing yoga. It’s in the doing. Actually, putting pen to paper and focusing on what we are grateful for. Bertha and Jane bless us with a better way of looking at life.

Quote~
Driving up, I couldn’t help but notice that Bertha was rearranging her flamingo display. I mean when someone is in your front yard, wearing lime green spandex capris and a purple tube top, with matching high-heeled sandals and moving big pink plastic birds around, you do tend to pay attention. The last time she had done this, she was coming out of a ‘blue’ spell. I’d been out of town on business for a few days, so I didn’t have a clue what was up. Shifting into park, I opened the car door. “Bertha, what are you doing?”
