My Review

Unbound by Tricia Drammeh is an exciting escape. It's not quite like any other paranormal story I have read. The writing is sharp while the storyline is original, filled with clever turns and compelling characters.

This is the third book in the series and I have to say this could very well be my favorite but that is hard to say because I loved all these books with the different perspectives and the ongoing suspense that had me in a trance. Unbound is a wonderfully mysterious adventure that I believe not just young people will enjoy. I was amused and entertained all the way through.

The author writes in a very natural conversational style that feels realistic and relatable. I love how easy it is to get absorbed into her stories. That makes reading Unbound and all of her other books a real treat. It seems Miss Drammeh possesses a dark magic of her own.

I look forward to whatever she has planned to grace us with in the future. Sooner than later, I hope! If I was a mind reader I would predict that this book gets rave 5 star reviews. It certainly deserves the escalades.

Quote ~

"He let the chain fall, and with his other hand, caught the pendant. It dissolved into nothing the moment it touched his palm."

Firebound (Spellbringers Book 2)

Rachel's thirst for knowledge about the family she never knew drives her to keep a secret from the Alexanders that shatters Jace's trust in her. With her renewed dream-relationship with Re'Vel, she walks a razor's edge, putting the entire Alexander family - and Alisa - in terrible danger.
Alisa and Bryce are more in love than ever, but his jealousy and possessiveness threatens to push Alisa away. With his Claiming Words ringing in Alisa's ears, she tries to reconcile her sense of independence with her desperate yearning for Bryce.
A dark enemy from the Alexanders’ past is out for vengeance and uses Rachel as his target to get to the family he despises. When Alisa is caught in the crossfire, Bryce is willing to sacrifice anything to save her - even his own soul.

My Review

Firebound by Tricia Drammeh is the second book in the Spellbringers series. These are such powerful books and this installment was a great addition to the first. The writing is coptivating, as well as the plot. This book invites you right in.

There is a romantic aspect to this story that made it hard to walk away from. The characters have something special. So much so that you want it to work out for them.

This is a magical story that touched me. Firebound is so entertaining that you won’t want it to end. Just thankful there is a third book in the works. I am truly looking forward to learning how things fall together.

The shocking twists and turns caught me off guard and had me reading much longer than I anticipated. I highly recommend this book and others by Tricia Drammeh. Doesn’t matter what the subject, this author knows how to grab its reader by taking us on a moving adventure. Her stories are well rounded and filled with humanity.

Quote~

"Bryce said he wanted me, but now I wasn't so sure. Rachel told me she could see the initial ties that bound him to me-ties which formed when he spoke the Claiming Words. But those ties did not constitute a real Bond. Did it? I felt changed by his claim. My soul screamed for his, but perhaps he didn't feel the same. Maybe he could sever the ties that bound us without a second thought? But for me it wouldn't be so easy. I had no magic to pledge to him, but I'd given him my heart."

Spellbound (Spellbringers Book 1)

The Demon Re’Vel stalks his prey in the forest of dreams, slowly gaining control over the mind of his victim. Rachel doesn’t realize the Demon is real. In fact, she doesn’t believe in magic, Demons, Hunters, or any of the other things the Alexanders have warned her about. She resists their protection, but can’t resist her overwhelming feelings for Jace.

Alisa has been drawn to Jace since the day she saved him from a Hunter attack. A mere human in a world of Spellbringers, Alisa has been embraced by the Alexander family as a hero, but not everyone is willing to accept her. Jace’s intimidating older brother, Bryce, keeps his emotions and his secrets hidden. When Bryce confides in Alisa, it puts her relationship with Jace and the entire Alexander family at risk.

Danger, secrets, and betrayal collide, and when the Demon makes his claim, the small, southern town of Oaktree becomes a battleground for Rachel’s life.

Formerly published under the title 'The Claiming Words,' Spellbound is a completely re-written, re-vamped novel featuring added scenes, additional chapters, and a new ending.

My Review

From the opening sentence of Spellbound I was hooked. Tricia Drammeh expertly weaves a tale of great fascination. I read in a fury wanting to know more. I was enthralled with the story and indulged myself until I got to the end. I couldn't put this book down. That is how good it is.

Alisa's story touched me and I could relate to her insecurities. She is a teenager who has to deal with a constant bully who happens to be her cousin.
Written in such a way it was easy to connect to her and what she was going through.

I liked that this story shared different viewpoints, going from Alisa to Rachel. Both stories seemed to parallel the other. Really felt like I was getting into their heads. So good to get more than one perspective.

I guess you can call this a coming-of-age story yet it isn't quite what it seems. There are paranormal aspects that kept me guessing and a well developed plot line that kept me on my toes. So many twists that I did not see coming.

I don't think you have to be young to enjoy this YA story. I ate it up in one sitting. This book is fast paced, wildly entertaining and easy to escape into the unknown that was Spellbound. Highly recommend reading this book before book two, Firebound comes out. This is a great start to the Spellbringers series.

Quote ~

"My worry over Jeffrey would be a constant tickle in the back of my mind, probably for the rest of my life. I longed for days past when the only things I had to worry about were grades and college applications.I used to live in a world where magic only existed in my silly little vampire novels. Now magic followed me everywhere, and I couldn't find safety even in my dreams."

Reaper's Requiem (The Third book in Racing the Reaper Series) by Jerrid Edgington has been released!

Reaper's Requiem (The Reaper Series Book 3)

With the death of Bridge and their unborn child, Jacob left Idaho and moved home to Oklahoma. His life spiraled out of control and he sought out to comfort his pain in ways he never imagined possible. The fire that burned deep inside of him to utilize his paramedic skills helping people, extinguished. Each time he looked in the mirror he didn’t recognize the man that stared back at him. His mere existence depended on the crutch he grew to depend on.

Will he find his way back to the man he used to be, a man that his father was proud of, or would he continue to destroy himself?

Reaper’s Requiem is the third book in the Reaper Series. You can expect the heart pounding, page turning action that were in Racing the Reaper and Resuscitation. The fourth and final book in the series, The Reaper Returns, will be released in 2015.

My Review

Reaper’s Requiem by Jerrid Edgington is edgy, fascinating and I have to say laugh out loud funny, at times. From the opening scene the fast paced dialog has you feeling as if you are going on a ride. It grabs hold and never lets go. I love the sarcastic humor and the heart pumping action.

This well-written book had me full of all different emotions. Couldn’t help but feel for Jacob, his plight and his future. After reading the first book, Racing the Reaper and then Resuscitation it’s difficult not to care about this person and his story. He is likable, relatable and realistic. At this point I feel that I know him or at the very least, want to know him. There is a vulnerability about him that I find very appealing as he has a way of drawing you in. There is not just suspense in this story but it becomes a mystery thriller that is not at all predictable.

Would highly suggest picking up this series. It is a roller coaster ride that is explosive, powerfully entertaining and full of energy.

Quote ~

“The ambulance approached the intersection from the south. Traffic wasn’t yielding the right of way to them. He shook his head. It never ceased to amaze him how vehicles wouldn’t get out of the way while they drove code three. If it had been their family members having an emergency, they would expect traffic to yield
to the oncoming emergency vehicle. Some things never change.”

Racing the Reaper (The Reaper Series Book 1)

After a life altering accident that nearly leaves Jacob Myers paralyzed, he feels his life is meant for something greater than the boring grind of an office job. Through his recovery process he comes to a decision to become an EMT.

In the fast paced world of emergency services, Jacob makes one mistake after another. Is the stress of holding other lives in his hands just too much for him?
Things go terribly wrong when a former patient stalks him and accuses him of sexual assault.

Will Jacob clear his name and rid his life of this mentally unbalanced woman or will he be trapped and imprisoned for something he didn’t do?

My Review

Racing the Reaper was not only suspenseful but full of action. From one scene to the next my mind raced. This story really comes to life. Exciting and earthshaking at the same time! This is the kind of drama pulls you in early on. From the very first page the reader is brought into some life changing circumstances. The writing is simple and easy to follow that at times I forgot I was reading and not seeing the story take place in front of me. I was able to escape into the story, into another persons life in an instant.

The dialog felt natural and I loved the sarcastic banter between the characters. What I loved the most was the emotion that the main character, Jacob displayed. You don't see many men showing so much vulnerability. The author had a way of pulling at your heart strings.

This book has a positive message about life and following your dreams. Loving what you do is an essential part and I could feel the passion throughout. I found Jacob and this story intriguing and filled with humanity.

I read this book last year and when the new edition came out I had to pick it up. The story is still intriguing but now the writing is sharper yet. The plot is richer and the story is even more captivating. Even the ending was more gratifying. I believe there was a lot of soul searching that went into creating this story. I can’t wait for the next installment.

"The sun slipped through the blinds lighting up his room with a bright orange glow. Jacob's mouth was as dry as the Sahara Desert, a side effect of the pain medication. He was sure if he were to look inside his mouth he would see tumbleweeds rolling through. Sitting on a table next to his bed was a glass of water. Oh, how he wished he could reach over and grab it. As he was lying there staring at the glass of water, the right side of his body began to tingle."

Resuscitation (Racing The Reaper Book 2)

After being stalked by Becca in Racing the Reaper book one, paramedic, Jacob Myers moves to Idaho to find Bridgett and start a new life. Things go drastically wrong for Jacob from the moment he steps off the plane. Bridgett’s in a relationship with a handsome young doctor, someone wants to ruin Jacob’s career, and then the threats to his life begin. Can Jacob survive long enough to unravel the tangled web of deceit?

Resuscitation, book two in the Racing the Reaper thriller series lives up to the fast paced style the author set in book one. Hold on tight for the ride of your life.

My Review

"Resuscitation" by Jerrid Edgington is an emotional thrill ride that will suck you in right from the start. As good as Racing the Reaper is this second book in the series blows it away. The authors voice has matured and so has his writing. This story is realistic, captivating and wildly entertaining. There were great visuals and surprising scenes that I didn't see coming. I love how smooth the story progresses without the author having to try too hard to win over the audience.

I love how Resuscitation opens up and you are already involved in the story. The scene comes to life as Jacob does his thing to save more lives. These stories are so raw, emotional and at the same time inspiring. The action scenes leave me short of breath and the storyline moves and attracts me even more to this courageous young man. The author has a way of telling you a very realistic story and allows you to get attached to his characters and emotionally involved at the same time.

The grueling adventures pull you in, entertain you and takes you away for a great escape. There is something very empowering about these stories. It's the goodness of the human race that comes to light and not only am I moved but I was praying for a positive resolve.

The writing is so crisp and fluid that I felt I was going through it all with Jacob. At times I felt a bit faint but that is only because the writing was so good. The author actually takes you right into life and death scenes. You are seated in the first row as a spectator and you can't stop reading or you will miss some of the best parts. The victories gave me total chills throughout my body.

Very impressed and look forward to the third book in the series. I am another fan of Jacob's... and Bridge. Resuscitation gets 5 stars from me. Highly recommend.

Quote ~

"Jacob exhaled and swam in the direction he felt the bubbles traveling. Pulling with his arms, kicking his legs, he swam as hard and fast as he could. His muscles burned with each stroke. He reached the surface just as the last breath escaped his lungs. The cool air hit his face and he inhaled deeply, sucking in water and fatigue set in. Jacob rolled over to his back and swam for the shore."
